The Flagship of Music Recording
Years in The Making Computers have been in use to help create music for a very long time, and as the demand for the use increased, its programming became more sophisticated and started taking on more tasks. Once we realized the full potential of the computer and how it could change the landscape of music production, the race was on to find the best computer possible that could deliver what we desired. While computer manufacturers where making the computers, they were still making them for the general population. MusicXPC, whose engineers comprise of musicians turned software users, realized this had to change. The result is the S6x.Increasing Software Demand There has been a push and pull relationship between software and hardware. The more software you had, the more powerful your computer had to be, and the more powerful your computer became the more software started taking advantage of that power. A top of the line computer 5 years ago would struggle under the demands of the software today. The MusicXPC Professional S6x is the flagship of not only MusicXPC, it’s the flagship computer of the music making business period. You simply can’t find a better computer to handle today’s demand and the forward thinking leads us into tomorrow while others play catch up.![]() ![]() Design Meets Functionality
Compartmentalized Work The look of the S6x is nothing like your traditional PC tower computer. Futuristic in design, it helps to serve a purpose of easy access to computer components through the compartmentalized setup. With the old tower configuration, if you wanted to get to the CPU, you would have to open up the computer case and navigate through bus cards, hard drives and an array of wires. Sometimes removing the aforementioned just to even see the CPU itself. Whereas in the S6x, if you need to access the CPU, well just open the motherboard compartment. Swap hard drives? How about just pulling out any of the 5 bays from the side?Sturdy Construction While the open concept design allows for easy access to components, the materials chosen to create the exterior shell and protective casings is very durable. There is a handle for the ease of carrying located at the top of the S6x. The inputs that you would usually find on the front of the computer has been moved to the top along with the power and reset button. No more bumping into the computer and shutting it down, no more breaking hardware dongles or tripping over wires that are connected to front ports. Even what doesn’t come with the computer is protected by the design of it. A result of musicians thinking. |
A Sound Investment
A professional studio is only good as the sum of its parts. You have a SSL 48-channel mixing console, all the top microphones, a who’s who of rack mounted gear and a studio room that looks like it should be in Town & Country magazine. You can’t leave the digital recording up to any old computer; you need the best of the best, the cream of the crop. You need an S6x. All the power, all the connections, all the storage you need is in this machine. Feature rich and ultra quiet, it’s probably going to be one of your most important purchases that you make for your professional studio. With the peace of mind that comes with owning a MusicXPC, it’s a sound investment. ![]() ![]() Easy Drive Access Having a hard drive dedicated to a client makes sense both from the perspective of the studio and the client. The studio doesn’t have to use its own drive for storage; the client can easily carry their files with them when done. What’s not efficient is the use of external drives, but they make sense to oppose to opening your computer every time. Well the C6x addresses this issue with 5 swappable drive bays. Simply plug the hard drive into the swappable case, plug the hard drive case into one of 5 drive bays.![]() Quiet, we are trying to listen You would think that with so much ventilation surfaces, noise would be an issue. But the C6x uses the quietest fans in the business, after all their purpose of fans is to keep the computer cool and nothing else. With the superior heat sink technology, the fan use is simply to remove the hot air out of the system as opposed to actually cooling. Well that just leaves the noise of the hard drives, but with 2 SSD 64GB drives in the system we solved that problem as well. You should hear music, not your music computer.![]() Make a connection You know the story, buy a new computer and your old peripherals don’t work. Buy new peripherals and your computer does not have the newly designed connection that is needed. So you have to go out and buy and adapter or two, or a PCI card with a new connection port. Well how about this for connecting the dots: USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, a firewire 800 port, eSATA ports, HDMI ports and PCIe x16 slots. So it doesn’t matter what your solution is getting your music in and out of your S6x, just choose a port.![]() There’s always an option In the world of digital audio recording, one monitor is seldom enough, you may want to use two. Even then, two monitors just might not do you any justice either. That’s why we offer the option of a quad-monitor solution. How do you use four monitors at a time? How ever you want but consider this: Your first two monitors, 1 & 2 respectively, will have your arrangement window, all your MIDI and recorded Audio data. The third for keeping track of plugins, while the fourth is being used to monitor the mixer. Nice! |
