Optical Mouse
The Professional M3 includes an optical mouse as standard because this is the best way to navigate music software and you will need one anyway. We know that because as much as we love the touch pad, a regular two-button wheel mouse beats it any day of the week.
The TouchPad, an alternative to a mouse, is located as with most laptops on the front and is fully configurable. It senses finger movement and downward pressure. The two adjacent buttons function like the buttons on a two-button mouse. But a touch pad is no match for a mouse.
Carrying Case
The M3 comes with a carrying case. The carrying case has a compartment for the laptop, a second pouch for cables and the AC adapter. It's a nice notebook case and best of all it's FREE. |

3-Port FireWire PC Card
The M3 comes with a 3-port FireWire card so that you can connect 6-pin cables directly to the Notebook.
Warranty
The
Professional M3 comes with a 1-year warranty that covers the key areas of the
computer against manufacture defects. You can also purchase an extended 3-year warranty from MusicXPC. Since the M3 is a mobile device
the opportunities for accidental damage are numerous. The best defense
against accidents is careful handling and adherence to a few simple
do's and don't's.
Laptop
Care
The
Professional M3 is quite rugged, but it can be damaged. Laptops
that are damaged out of negligence and abuse are not covered by
warranty. Adhering to a few simple rules are can prevent 99% of
all damage to your M3. All of this is in the manual, but you know
what busy people do with manuals - on the shelf.
- Do not drop it or expose it to shock
- Do not place the M3 on a leaning or unstable
surface - cars, books, side tables, etc. Anything that can
move/displaced with a moving leg/arm is not a place to put
the M3.
- Do not place the M3 next to a TV or magnet.
- Do not place heavy things on it. We suggest
you never put anything on it period.
- Keep it dry and keep it cool
- Keep the M3 and the power supply away from
any kind of heating element. This is an electrical appliance.
- Do not expose the M3 to excessive heat of
direct sunlight.
- Do not leave it in a place where liquid can
be spilled on it. If water, coffee or any other liquid gets
into the M3, the machine can be badly damaged.
- Do no use or store the computer in a humid
environment
- Do not place the M3 on any surface that will
block the vents - like a bed.
- Avoid Interference
- Keep the M3 away from high capacity transformers,
electric motors and strong magnetic fields. These can hinder
performance and damage your data.
- Follow the proper working procedures
for the computer
- Do not turn off the power until you properly
shut down all programs.
- Do not turn off any peripheral devices when
the computer is ON.
- Do not disassemble the computer by yourself.
This will definitely void the warranty.
- Perform routine maintenance on your computer
- like defragging and making backups of your hard drives.
- Take care when using peripheral devices
- Use only approved brands of peripherals.
- Unplug the power cord before attaching peripheral
devices.
- Battery Precautions
- Use only batteries designed for this computer.
The wrong battery type may explode, leak or damage the computer.
- Recharge the battery using the M3's system.
Incorrect recharging may make the battery explode.
- Do not try to repair the battery pack. Refer
any battery pack repair or replacement to your service personnel.
- Keep children away from a damaged battery.
Damaged batteries must be promptly and carefully disposed
of. Batteries may explode, or leak if exposed to fire or
are handled or discarded improperly.
- Keep the battery away from metal appliances.
- Affix tape to the battery contacts before
disposing of the battery.
- Do not touch the battery contact with your
hand or metal objects.
- Power Safety
- Use only a power adapter approved for use
with this computer.
- Your AC adapter may be designed for international
travel but it still requires a steady, uninterrupted power
supply. If you are unsure of your local power specifications,
consult your service representative or local power company.
- The power adapter may have either a 2-prong
or a 3-prong grounded plug. The third prong is an important
safety feature; do not defeat its purpose. If you do not
have access to a compatible outlet, have a qualified electrician
install one.
- When you want to unplug the power cord, be
sure to disconnect it by the plug hear and not by the wire.
- Make sure the socket and any extension cord(s)
you use can support the total current load of all the connected
devices.
- Before cleaning the computer, make sure it
is disconnected from any external power supplies.
- Do not plug in the power cord if you are wet.
- Do not use a broken power cord.
- Do not place heavy objects on the power cord.
- Cleaning
- Do not apply cleaner directly to the computer;
use a soft clean cloth.
- Do not use volatile (petroleum distillates).
- Servicing
- Do not attempt to service the computer yourself.
Doing so may violate your warranty and expose you and the
computer to electric shock. Refer all servicing to your
dealers or to authorized service personnel. Unplug the computer
from the power supply, then refer servicing to qualified
service personnel under any of the following conditions:
- When the power cord or AC/DA adapter is
damaged or frayed.
- If the computer has been exposed to rain
or other liquids.
- If the computer does not work normally when
you follow the operating instructions.
- If the computer has been dropped or damaged
(do not touch the poisonous liquid if the LCD panel breaks).
- If there is an unusual odor, heat or smoke
coming from your computer.
- Travel Consideration
- As you get ready for your trip, run through
this list to make sure the system is ready to go: Check
the battery pack and any spares are fully charged.
- Power off the computer don't just close the
case. Putting a notebook which is powered ON into a travel
bag may cause the vents/intakes to be blocked.
- Close the display panel and make sure it is
latched.
- Disconnect the AC adapter and cables. Stow
them in the carrying bag.
- The AC adapter uses voltages from 100 to 240
volts so you won't need a second voltage adapter.
- Put the notebook in its carrying bag and secure
the bag's straps.
- If you're taking any peripherals [audio card,
mouse, camera], pack them in the pouch so as not to damage
the skin of the M3.
- Do not check the M3 with regular luggage.
We actually did this as a test and but we do
not recommend that you do it ever.
- If you move quickly from a cold to a warm
location, water vapor can condense inside the M3. Wait a
few minutes before turning it ON so that any moisture can
evaporate.
- Make sure you place the M3 securely in the
overhead bin on the plane and that there is no luggage that
can fall onto the carrying case.
Take just a few precautions and following these procedures
can result in years and years of trouble free computing with the
M3.
