MusicXPC C2 Tests
The purpose of these tests is to give you a sense of the kind of performance you can expect from a MusicXPC C2 and your audio applications. All tests were conducted with Steinberg Cubase SX 2 & Nuendo 2, Digidesign ProTools LE 6.4 and Cakewalk SONAR 3 using a stock MusicXPC C2. Latency set to 256 samples for 16-bit tests and 512 for 24-bit tests. This was done because the PowerMac G5 does not playback significant numbers of tracks at 96Khz. The test file contains linear tracks of continuous discreet audio files.

All tests were conducted using Steinberg Cubase SX 2, Steinberg Nuendo 2 and ProTools LE 6.4 with a stock Apple G5 Dual 2.0 GHz running OSX Panther 10.3 with 1024MB of RAM, 160GB HD and at a latency of 256 samples16-bit tests and 512 samples for 24-bit tests. The G5 would not play back significant numbers of 96kHz files at 256 sample latency so we used 512 samples for those tests.

Conclusion

Anyone can duplicate these tests. They are 100% authentic and conducted with the utmost care and integrity. If the Apple G5 is the world's fastest personal computer, as it professes to be, then either we can't call the MusicXPC a personal computer or we can't call the G5 the world's fastest computer. This we can say emphatically: when it comes to music applications, there is absolutely no question that overall, a stock MusicXPC C2 is a significantly faster computer than any and every G5 on God's green Earth. This is an absolute and undeniable fact.
