The MusicXPC ships with an Intel Pentium® P4 processor on board. Many music software and hardware vendors have certified that the Intel's Pentium 4 architecture is the best choice. When compared to other processors, the Pentium 4 delivers massive horsepower that allows audio professionals to complete projects with large amounts of linear tracks and significant amounts of processing with effects plug-ins.
Intel Pentium® 4 2.8 GHz
533MHz FSB: This entry of this generation of CPU [Central Processing Unit] saw Intel's front side bus jump from 400MHz to 533MHz. This translates to a 4.2GB/sec bandwidth or a 25% increase. This provides ample headroom for future CPU enhancements, e.g. like hyper-threading.
Core Details: The Pentium 4 2.8 GHz CPU is built on the "Northwood" 0.13 micron core, Intel's most advanced 0.13 micron manufacturing process, with 512K of L2 cache. This provides sizeable increases in performance. Please note that we strongly discourage over clocking. This little bit of tampering can do a lot of damage to your operating system.
In most tests performed by the general computing market and by our own technicians, the Pentium 4 outperforms other CPUs, and the performance gap is widening. The best choice, the best value and the best platform for today's audio professional is an Intel based computer.
